Saint Bernard School proudly announces that Taylor Riso, Director of Admissions, has been named the recipient of the 2025 Ryken Award. The peer-nominated honor was presented following Saint Bernard’s Founder’s Week prayer service on December 3.

During the presentation, Head of School Don Macrino praised Mrs. Riso for her professionalism and dedication.

“Mrs. Riso is a consummate professional with an extensive background in admissions. Saint Bernard School struck gold when she decided to bring her talents here,” he said.

Since joining Saint Bernard in 2022, Mrs. Riso has worked tirelessly to welcome new students into the school community while maintaining strong relationships with both domestic and international families. As the first person many families meet when they inquire about Saint Bernard, she plays a vital role in representing the school’s mission and values.

“Taylor’s dedication extends far beyond her role in admissions,” said coworker Shari Marderness, Director of Marketing and Communications. “She plays an essential role in shaping the culture and spirit of our school.”

As leader of the Student Ambassadors Club, she helps students grow as leaders and representatives of Saint Bernard. She also plans and incorporates service projects into school life, giving students meaningful opportunities to give back to the wider community.

Mrs. Riso earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from St. Bonaventure University and Adelphi University, respectively. Prior to joining Saint Bernard, she served as Coordinator of New England Recruitment at St. Bonaventure University and later as Director of Undergraduate Admissions at Holy Apostles College and Seminary.

The Ryken Award is presented annually on the Feast of St. Francis Xavier at each of the 13 Xaverian Brothers Sponsored Schools. The award honors an adult member of the school community who demonstrates an exceptional commitment to Saint Bernard’s mission and the values of the Xaverian Brothers.

Each year, recipients are nominated by their peers and approved by the school’s administration.
