February Students of the Month

February Students of the Month Named

Two students have been recognized as February Students of the Month at Saint Bernard School -  Alex Hatch, sixth grade, and Ziqi “Leo” Liu, 12th grade.

Every month during the school year, the Student of the Month Committee selects one middle school student and one high school student for exhibiting the Xaverian Brothers spiritual values of humility, trust, zeal, compassion and simplicity.

The honorees

Alex, 12, of Mystic, plays tenor sax in middle school band and jazz band and was recently accepted to the All State Elementary Band (grades four to six) where he’ll perform with musicians from all over Connecticut. He also participates in basketball and middle school wrestling.

His teachers say he is polite, kind, helps others, and is studious and conscientious.

Alex says he enjoys the kindness displayed at SBS and “learning at this great school.”

Leo, 18, is an international student from China who lives with a host family in Oakdale. He plays tennis and participates in the school choir.

His teachers say aside from being a good student, Leo is polite and very eager to learn, helps others and is a leader in choir. He has been a student at Saint Bernard for the past four years and says he enjoys the challenging academics and the friendly school environment.

“It’s my honor to be in this school,” he says.
