Our support programs in English, study skills, and cultural acclimatization are aimed at helping our students see success while forming life-long friendships in and out of the classroom. Over 90% of our international student graduates applying to Tier One and Tier Two United States universities received offers of acceptance.

A well-qualified international applicant has a strong academic record and sufficient English language proficiency to perform well in a challenging college preparatory environment. Application requirements are as follows:

  • An online application with essay and $100.00 (USD) application fee.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in oral and written English.  For applicants whose native language is not English, and whose language of instruction for the most recent four years of schooling has not been in English, English language proficiency testing and score reports are required. Saint Bernard School accepts TOEFL (minimum score 65), TOEFL Jr. (minimum 785 scaled score) or iTEP (minimum 4.4 Slate Score).
  • Letters of recommendation from math and English teachers.


Complete official transcripts in English with Certified English translation and accompanied by an English translation of the grading system.

 The translation must be officially stamped to indicate the student has successfully completed the indicated grade level.

  • A copy of your passport.
  • Proof of financial support showing adequate financial support to complete the chosen field of study. Each international student MUST complete a financial support form and return it with his/her application. In addition, the student MUST submit official documentation showing (a) the person providing the financial support has the necessary funds (b) the funds can be transferred from the student’s home country to the United States.


  • An Affidavit of Support from a sponsor in the United States or abroad.
  • Evidence of health insurance within the United States sufficient to meet the minimum requirements of the U.S.. Department of State recommendation.
  • An interview by the Admissions staff, in person or via Skype.


It is the international student’s responsibility to obtain all required visas, passports, and documents required by the Immigration Department of the United States. International students already in the United States on a student visa also have the responsibility for renewal and continuation of their permits to remain in the U.S.

Tuition and Fees

International Student Inclusive Tuition: $25,000

All amounts are in U.S. dollars. Tuition is defined as the amount charged by the school for the student's classroom credits. Within the fees the following is provided:

  • Uniform Allowance - 1st set of uniforms 
  • Book Allowance - 1st set of books only
  • School meal program allowance of $1,200.  If a student uses the entire $1,200 amount before the end of the school year, the student will be responsible of replenishing their school meal account.


To accept your offer of admission, submit a non-refundable tuition deposit of $3,500 to Saint Bernard School and return with your tutition contract. 

Before You Arrive

  1. Complete and return to Saint Bernard School the Certificate of Eligibility for SEVIS Application Form. Carefully review your I-20 and pay the SEVIS Fee.

  2. Contact the U.S. Embassy or Consulate to apply for your student visa.

  3. Make your transportation arrangements allowing for your attendance at the Fall Orientation in August. A separate proficiency exam is given to all newly enrolled international students to evaluate specific math and English skills during the orientation program. All course selections and college counseling for students will take place once we have your test results.

  4. Arrange for and provide evidence of a physical examination with a doctor in Connecticut per state law.

  5. Arrange for Housing. Saint Bernard does not provide housing. The student’s family is responsible for arranging the housing. This may be done through your agent. Saint Bernard works with a number of certified agencies. If you need a referral to an agent, please contact our Admissions Office:
