Visual Arts

The Visual Arts program at Saint Bernard School nurtures each student’s creative expression through working with their hands, hearts, and souls. Opportunities are available for students at all levels of art experience.

Art Exhibits – Student artwork is displayed in the art gallery and throughout the school for everyone to enjoy.

Students are encouraged to participate in local, state, and national contests.

  • Connecticut Scholastic Art Exhibit: Saint Bernard students have been very successful over the past decade, receiving Gold Keys, Silver Keys, and Honorable Mentions in drawing and 2D Design. 

  • In 2019, two Saint Bernard students received Gold Keys for their artwork.  Michael Wyeth Bonser received a Gold Key and Best in Portfolio for his portfolio  titled "Complexities of Life" which freatured 8 works of art.  Terrance Tang received a Gold Key for his watercolors painting "Earth to Earth."  Fay Jin received a Silver Key for her work "Underground City" and an Honorable Mention for "Special Period Train' in 2021.

  • Mystic Art Competition and Show

Advanced Placement portfolios, submitted in early May of each year in Drawing, 2D Design, and 3D, are continually successful.
