Music

Whether an accomplished musician or an absolute beginner, there is a place for everyone in the Saint Bernard Music Department.  Our music ensembles have performed both at the school and beyond including:

  • Disney World

  • Pueri Cantores National Catholic Choir Festival in New York City

  • Wreaths Across America ceremonies

  • National Anthem performances including the XL Center and Mohegan Sun

Future travel plans include Carnegie Hall, Saint Patrick’s Cathedral, and Rome, Italy!  These performance opportunities, at some of the world’s most prestigious locations, offer the musical student the chance to express themselves in solo and ensemble work while building leadership skills.  Additionally, our Praise Choir functions as a community service-based ensemble that performs at all masses.

In addition to ensemble work, student musicians are encouraged to participate in regional and national music competitions. Saint Bernard musicians audition and perform in the Eastern Regional Music Festival, Connecticut All-State Festival, All-New England Music Festival, All-New England Jazz Music Festival, Eastern Seaboard Music Festival, National Youth Orchestra, National Wind Ensemble, ABRSM International, and more.

Students who don’t wish to perform, but would like to play or learn a musical instrument, have a variety of opportunities.  Saint Bernard offers numerous solo and ensemble settings for growing musicians to learn or improve their skills. Our middle school band features students grade 6 through 8, while students in all grades can participate in ukulele studio, piano studio, acapella choir, handbells, drumline, and more.
