November Students of the Month

November Students of the Month

Congratulations to the November Students of the Month at Saint Bernard School: Olivia Gionet, a sixth-grader, and Lucas Dellacono, a ninth-grader.

Students are nominated for this honor by their teachers for exhibiting the Xaverian values of humility, trust, compassion, simplicity and zeal.

The honorees

Olivia, 11, of Niantic has demonstrated support for her peers and is a positive addition to the Saint Bernard School community. Her teachers say she is extremely bright and focused on her studies. She has been frequently seen reaching out in class to help her fellow students with course material.

“All of my teachers treat me with respect and encourage me to be independent, and to be the best I can be,” Olivia says.

Outside of school, Olivia is a competitive gymnast and dancer. She is an altar server at Sacred Heart Church in Groton, and is the steward of two Little Free Libraries.

As a community service project Olivia created a reflection garden at Clark Lane Middle School. She says the project, which will be used by students and honors a retired teacher, helped her figure out how to plan for a project, be responsible and to give back to the community.

Lucas Dellacono, 14, of Stonington, plays football, baseball and basketball.

According to his teachers, Lucas is engaged and focused in class, is polite, and kind to his classmates. He is extremely conscientious of his work, always participates in class, and helps out classmates when he can.

Lucas works diligently to improve his academic performance in class, and routinely reaches out to new members of the SBS community to include them in conversations and make them feel welcome.
